In addition to one-on-one literacy tutoring, Project READ also sponsors monthly informational seminars that are of interest to low literacy and beginning reading adults. This year our programs have included two adult story times, internet safety, self advocacy, driver's education, yoga and meditation, financial planning, employment readiness and healthy living and nutrition. Project READ has also worked in conjunction with the Wicomico Public Libraries Children's Department and Salisbury Urban Ministries Kid's Café to host a Family Engagement night. The Project READ program staff also attends job fairs, open houses, festivals and other community events in an effort to recruit adult learners for the program and volunteer literacy coaches.
Project READ would like to achieve a monetary goal of $2500 to support literacy workshops for our adult learners.
